<p><strong>Operationg Principle<br></strong> The transducer uses a pressure sensitive diaphragm with a vibrating wire element attached to it. The diaphragm is welded to a capsule which is evacuated and hermetically sealed. Fluid pressures acting upon the outer face of the diaphragm cause deflections of the diaphragm and changes in tension and frequency of the vibrating wire. The changing frequency is sensed and transmitted to the readout device by an electrical coil action through the walls of the capsule.</p>



<p>Piezometers incorporate a porous filter stone ahead of the diaphragm, wich allows the fluid to pass through but prevents soil particles from impinging directly on th diaphragm.</p>

<p>The Model 8002-1 (LC-2) and Model 8002-1A (LC-2A) are stand-alone, single-channel dataloggers, designed to read both the vibrating wire element and the integral thermistor of any GEOKON vibrating wire sensor. The LC-2 offers an internal hard wired transducer connection and the LC-2A provides an optional 10-pin transducer connector for rapid sensor connection. The dataloggers are housed inside a Fiberglass Nema 4X enclosure, are very robust, weather-proof and particularly well-suited to operation in harsh environments. Power is supplied by two easily accessible ‘D’ cells or by solar panel for remote long-term applications. Data memory consists of 320K bytes of EEPROM, which translates into a memory storage capacity of 16,000 arrays. Each array consists of the datalogger ID, day (Julian or month/day format), time (HHMM), seconds, main battery voltage, datalogger temperature, vibrating wire sensor reading (in engineering units), the sensor temperature and array number. The array transmission is in comma delineated ASCII text, for easy importation into popular spreadsheet applications. Configuration, communication, monitoring, data collection and data reduction are achieved using LogView Software.</p>

<p>The Model 1900 Magnetic Extensometer is designed to measure settlement or heave of soft ground under the influence of loading or unloading due to the construction of embankments, fills, buildings, foundations, and structures. A probe is lowered inside a telescoping guide tube to detect and measure the position of magnetic anchors located around the guide tube at various depths along the borehole or within the fill. Plate anchors are used in fill and “spider” anchors in boreholes.</p>

<p>The Model GK-604D Digital Inclinometer System is delivered in its entirety and includes a Model 6100D Digital Inclinometer Probe, a reel-mounted cable and a Field PC. The Model 6100D contains electronics to convert the analog voltage into a digital signal, which is transmitted by the control cable to the cable reel containing the Interface, which communicates wirelessly with the Model FPC-2 Field PC. A Digital Compass is built into the Inclinometer Probe to correct the inclinometer data sets for any twist (or spiraling) in the inclinometer casings. The spiral survey data is presented on (and stored in) the same FPC-2 Field PC used for taking inclinometer readings. An optional 12 volt electric cable reel system is available, which can provide substantial time savings when surveying deep inclinometer casings.</p>
